The Christi Center offers hope after the death of a loved one by providing support networks, community education and therapeutic activities that are free, peer-based, and ongoing.
Founded by Susan and Don Cox in 1987 after their daughter, Christi, was killed by a hit-and-run drunk driver, Susan and Don’s values heavily shaped the organization’s founding principals, which hold true even today. They include:
• Providing free grief support at no charge to grieving families for as long as they need it
• Educating and increasing community awareness on issues facing the bereaved
• Building community partnerships to better support grieving people
• Building a diverse and sustainable base of volunteer and financial support to ensure that our services will always be here for those in need
Since Susan and Don started the organization, we have helped over 73,000 Central Texans find new life after loss. Thanks to The Christi Center,
What could have been despair is now hope.
What could have been isolation is now friendship.
What could have been divorce is now renewed marriage.
What could have been suicide is now survival.
What was hurt is now healing.
