The Kids Who Kare program is an age-appropriate support group that allows children to move past the isolation felt after a loss by connecting with other kids who are experiencing similar struggles. The groups help children process their losses and the accompanying emotions. Our trained staff and volunteers support the children as they use art, activity, and story telling to work through the emotions evoked by their loss. Past projects have included activities focused on how to understand feelings of anger, sadness, and worry and sharing favorite memories of loved ones. For a primer on what grief looks like in children, please read this resource.
The Children’s program covers kids ranging from 5-12. For ages 13 and above please see the Teen program.
Sessions are held the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at the Christi Center (View Map). We also serve the parents/guardians with a Adult Loss group at the same time in a separate room.
