Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead

November 1 is Día de los Muertos

Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a holiday (or festival) celebrated in Mexico, Ecuador, Guatemala and other areas in Central and South America. It is also celebrated in areas of the United States, such as California, Texas and many others. The best way to describe this holiday is to say it is a time when family members who have died are remembered. Although this celebration is associated with the dead, it is not a morbid or depressing time, but rather a celebration of life, happiness, color, food, family and fun.

For more information and a list of fun activities for the celebration, download the Día de los Muertos activities kit (PDF file).
