My Experience of Loss

By September 22, 2025No Comments

Hello, my name is Jeff. I want to thank the Christi Center for the opportunity to share my story.

I have experienced profound loss in my life—loss that has changed me in ways I never imagined. In my mid-twenties, I survived a near-death experience that shook me to my core. I faced the possibility of never coming back to life, and during that moment, I encountered a presence of love and light that I can only describe as God’s mercy and grace. That experience gave me a perspective on life, purpose, and the eternal nature of love.

Years later, I faced the most painful loss I could imagine: the death of my son, Aaron, from brain cancer. Caring for him, reconciling past struggles, and walking with him in his final days was both heartbreaking and profoundly transformative. In that journey, I learned that grief is not just about sorrow—it’s about love, memory, and the ways we carry those we have lost in our hearts.

I’ve also seen signs of hope and connection beyond death—moments that remind me that love never ends. I share this because I want those who are grieving to know that even in the depths of loss, there is comfort, there is meaning, and there is hope.

Through my experiences, I have come to understand that grief is personal, spiritual, and universal. It requires patience, compassion, and support. My journey has given me empathy, insight, and a desire to help others navigate their own paths through grief, honoring both the pain and the love that remains.

I share my story not to offer answers, but to offer presence—to remind you that you are not alone, and that even in the hardest moments, there is a light that can guide us forward.

Thank you for letting me share.

Peace n Love
