It’s Okay to Ask for Help. September is National Suicide Prevention Month

By September 9, 2026No Comments

September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness, sharing resources, and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide.

NAMI recognizes Suicide Prevention Month as a time to raise awareness, spread hope, and spark meaningful action around one of the most urgent mental health issues of our time. Our goal is to ensure that individuals, friends, and families have access to the tools, resources, and support they need to talk openly about suicide prevention, recognize warning signs, and seek help.

You are not alone.

Reaching out for support can be the start of a new journey forward. Whether you are experiencing thoughts of suicide or supporting a loved one, there is help available. Take time today to explore help options, learn about contributing risks to suicide, download resources, and more.
